Bad news, Yahoo has Hacked again!
Last year, Yahoo admitted that in 2013 the largest data breach was done and over 1 billion Yahoo users account were compromised.
On Wednesday based on the ongoing investigation, It notifies its users that their account may be compromised as the hacker used a forged cookies technique to log into the account without passwords. Forgery is a technique where forged cookies used as digital keys to log into other’s account without re-entering their password.
Warning message sends on Wednesday to its users.
“Based on the ongoing investigation, we believe a forged cookie may have been used in 2015 or 2016 to access your account.”
It is still unknown how many users are affected, but the company has confirmed that the attack was taken and compromised the user by a security flaw in Yahoo’s Mail Service.
You may be thinking how it can be done.
Attacker trick web browser telling the company that the user is already logged in by forging your online access or token key known as Cookies. So if you shut down your system, you will be not logged out as the cookie is already saved in your web browser which tells the website that you have already submitted the login credentials like username and password.
The statement gave by one of the Yahoo Spokesman:
“As we have previously disclosed, our outside forensic experts have been investigating the creation of forged cookies that could have enabled an intruder to access our users’ accounts without a password.”
“The investigation has identified user accounts for which we believe forged cookies were taken or used. Yahoo is in the process of notifying all potentially affected account holders.”
Warning notices have been sending to all the compromised users and it is clear that there is nothing which can’t be hacked. Its users may be thinking of closing their Yahoo account and services as two of the biggest hacks were revealed in wild.
