Socl is/was a social networking site that allows users to collect, create or share things you love. Microsoft Is About To Close Its Social Networking Platform On March 15

So.cl, most probably forgotten social network project from Microsft Research’s FUSE Labs, is closing down. This service was launched in late 2011 as a social community, its main objective was “collaborative consumption, not communication.”

When this project’s news was first leaked prior to its launch, then many other networks had assumed that Microsoft was developing a social network platform to compete with Facebook, but it actually used Facebook log-in to sign-up.

So.cl quietly existed outside in the mainstream of the Social Networks, but anyways we feel sad for So.cl because after moe than five years, it will cease from 15th of March- Microsoft Research said in its post blog:

“Socl has been a wonderful outlet for creative expression, as well as a place to enjoy a supportive community of like-minded people, sharing and learning together. In supporting you, Socl’s unique community of creators, we have learned invaluable lessons in what it takes to establish and maintain community as well as introduce novel new ways to make, share and collect digital stuff we love.”
